국제학연구소의 퍼시픽 리포트 제6호가 발간되었습니다.
제6호에서는 ‘의도에 대한 불신과 의지에 대한 불신: 미·중 전략경쟁과 동남아시아의 고민’이라는 제목으로 서울대학교 국제대학원 오윤아 교수가 기고하였습니다.
오윤아 교수는 동남아시아 국가들이 미국과 중국에 각각 다른 구조적 불신을 가지고 있다고 분석합니다. 동남아시아 국가들이 중국의 평화롭게 부상하겠다는 '의도'와 미국의 동아시아 지역 안보 관여 '의지'에 대한 불신을 가지고 있다고 해석하고 있습니다. 오윤아 교수는 구조적 불신의 문제는 해결이 어렵지만, 동남아시아 국가들이 한국, 일본, EU 등과의 해양안보협력과 공급망의 다변화 전략을 통해 지역안정과 경제적 이익을 추구할 것이라고 전망합니다.

The Insitute of International Affairs has released the new Pacific Report No. 6. In this issue, Professor Yoon Ah Oh at the Graduate School of International Studies at Seoul National University contributed an article titled 'What Kind of Great Power Partner? The Issue of Trust in the U.S.-China Contest for Influence in Southeast Asia'.
Professor Yoon Ah Oh analyzes that the countries of Southeast Asia have different structural distrust towards the United States and China. Regarding China's 'intent' to rise peacefully, Southeast Asian countries are interpreted to have skepticism, while also harboring doubts about the 'will' of the United States to engage in security matters in East Asia. Professor Yoon Ah Oh predicts that the issue of structural distrust is challenging to resolve, but anticipates that Southeast Asian countries will pursue regional stability and economic interests through maritime security cooperation and diversification strategies within supply chains with countries like South Korea, Japan, and the EU.
