Regional Fellowship - Asia

The Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA) seeks a Region Fellow for Asia.

                                                                       

Working with APSIA staff and members, the fellow will advance APSIA’s outreach to prospective students, prospective employers, and prospective members throughout Asia.  S/he will help to deepen cooperation among APSIA members and increase awareness of the field of international affairs in the region. The 2019 Fellow will be based at Seoul National University in the Republic of Korea.

 

The Fellowship will begin in July 2019. Ideally, we would like to find candidates who are available for several semesters.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support marketing and outreach efforts to prospective students in Asia, including organizing events under the direction of the APSIA central office
  • Research alumni in Asia from APSIA members. Create social media, website, and other tools to share their stories in English and key regional languages.
  • Ensure that messages relevant to the Asian market are included in APSIA’s media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and the website)
  • Promote regional members’ and affiliates’ participation in APSIA’s global activities; ensure members and affiliates in the region are aware of APSIA’s activities and are encouraged to participate
  • Identify opportunities in the region for APSIA and its members to collaborate; stay informed about what all APSIA members and affiliates in the region are doing and share that information with the APSIA central office
  • Support opportunities to expand awareness of APSIA and its work within Asia; work with APSIA members and affiliates to participate in these opportunities; represent APSIA where needed
  • Identify prospective employers for APSIA students in Asia and, as appropriate, build connections between the APSIA central office and those employers
  • Identify prospective members and affiliates in the region; serve as a resource for them; build relationships, as appropriate, between prospective members and the central APSIA office
  • Identify opportunities to expand programming to advance diversity and inclusion initiatives in the region; plan and execute under the direction of the APSIA central office as appropriate
     
    Requirements:
  • Current student at the Seoul National University Graduate School of International Studies.
  • Experience with event planning and project management.
  • Experience working independently on projects
  • Fluency in English plus fluency in Korean, Japanese, Chinese, or other key language of the region
  • Experience with MS-Office Suite, Canva, WordPress, MailChimp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, social media scheduling tools (ex: Hootsuite), and related tools. Basic HTML helpful.
     
    Compensation: 18,000 KRW per hour for 10 hours per week (720,000 KRW monthly)
