Mr. Kyung-wook Hur, Ambassador of Korea to the OECD, visited GSIS
on Friday September 21st and gave a Distinguished Lecture on
“Why We Take Development Seriously: The Changing World and Korea’s New Initiative.”
The Ambassador stressed the importance of joint efforts among developed and developing
countries as well as key international institutions such as OECD and UNDP. He added that
Korea strives to be a unique and important actor in the international development scene
through programs such as the Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP) and pioneering institutions
such as the Global Green Growth Institute. After the lecture, Ambassador Hur took a round of
questions from the audience and answered them. He concluded the lecture by providing career
advice on how to join international organizations and encouraging the students to be keen
on these opportunities.
