Two GSIS Students, Shinai Kwon and Reshma Kamath, majoring in International Cooperation,
were selected to participate in the Coca-Cola Young Leaders Environment Program (CCYELP)
held in Hokkaido, Japan from February 27th-March 3rd, 2012. The program was organized by
Coca Cola and the Asian Program for Incubation of Environmental Leaders (APIEL) at the
University of Tokyo, and was co-organized by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The students were selected based on their exemplary performance at the 10-day Cambodia Unit
held in September 2011, which focused on the Sustainable Development of Cambodia.

There were 30 participating students in Masters and PhD courses from universities all over Asia.
The CCYELP mainly focused on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiatives for the private
sector such as Coca-Cola and local Hokkaido businesses. JICA experts also discussed Project
Design methods that are mainly used by public sector agencies for project proposals.
After intense group discussions, the students culminated their efforts into project presentations
on topics such as water sustainability, watershed conservation, environmental education
awareness, etc.
