Amb. Sakutaro Tanino "Public Lecture"

On April 24th, Ambassador Sakutaro Tanino, former Ambassador of Japan to China and India, visited GSIS for the public lecture series, "Asia and the World." During two hours, he gave a lecture titled, " Recent Development in East Asia and Japan’s Foreign Policy toward the Region."

In his lecture, Ambassador Tanino pointed out various aspects of East Asian region such as strong nationalism, historical issues, and territorial disputes between countries. He also emphasized that historical issues between Japan and other East Asian countries should be resolved upon Japan's active contribution to the region's economic development and security issues, while stressing the importance of Japan - Korea relation.
