International Conference

Developing a Joint Response of Korea and Europe to Global Changes

Description of the Conference

In the present critical juncture of Brexit, the European society is facing a predicament through which its integration process centered on the European Union could become stagnant. In particular, the problem brought upon Brexit is unlikely to be solved with ease, as the society is already distressed with the issues such as those of immigrants and refugees. This change in the European society has left the UK to solely cultivate international cooperation opportunities, of which it had been co-pioneering with other European Union member states before its call for a referendum. Moreover, the remaining member states retain the incentive to utilize the various opportunities that Brexit will create. In other words, the transition Europe is undergoing with changes including the issues of Brexit, immigrants, and refugees, not only pose a challenge for the members of the European Union but also manifest an opportunity structure. Furthermore, these changes are proceeding to the conversion in subject areas of research interests within the academia.

This academic conference aims to meet such needs and demands by discussing recent transformation within the EU. We hope that this conference will enable us to not only share assessments on European Union changes between the EU experts and Korean scholars, but also create new issue areas for academic exchanges as well as provide opportunities to seek exchanges and cooperation between universities.

We welcome all interested students to join. Lunch will be provided.
