Dear all,

SNU GSIS BK21 FOUR Program hosts various events inviting prominent figures to deliver distinguished lectures with our Special Lecture Series.

For our twenty ninth session, we are inviting Professor, Social Research Institute, University College London, Jonathan Gershuny.

He will talk on the theme of "National accounts from money and time budgets"

Please refer to the information below for more details:

*Abstract:

This talk specifies an exhaustive system of estimation which sets all economic inputs (both paid and unpaid work) against all outputs (final products from both market and non-market production). A final section provides a demonstration of how these inputs and outputs may be converted into the final outcomes of economic activity in terms of their consequences for health, happiness and (though not discussed here) environmental change. Together these inputs, outputs and outcomes provide an integrated “dashboard” of indicators of national product and individual wellbeing. The paper makes no money-based estimates of national product, instead separately estimating UK time allocations to work and consumption, and flows of intermediate commodities from the money economy into household-based production.

Participation is strongly encouraged for BK Fellows and Participants (absence in BK events may affect next semester's selection).

Thank you.
