2022 Spring semester Thesis Proposal for Master’s Program
1. Requirements
Applicants who have completed all coursework must be registered as research students or regular student
Applicants have nothing to do with whether they pass the Qualifying Exam or not.
We recommend students to apply for thesis proposal in the 2nd or 3rd semester.
Student can't apply for thesis proposal and defense in the same semester.
2. Procedure for Thesis Proposal
A) Submission of ‘Application for Appointing Examination Committee’, committee members’
approval message
(a) Period: Apr 6 ~ Apr 17, 2022
(b) Submission: E-mail at nhjun@snu.ac.kr
B) Submission of Thesis Proposal
(a) Period: May 16 ~ May 17, 2022 (by 5 p.m.)
(b) Place: E-mail at nhjun@snu.ac.kr
* Send the thesis proposal (free format) to E-mail at nhjun@snu.ac.kr. (If one of the committee members is not within GSIS, the student must give the thesis proposal directly to that member)
C) Screening of Thesis Proposal (Presentation)
- Period: May 27 ~ June 10, 2022 (Tentative Schedule)
* Detailed schedule and method will be announced on the Notice board of GSIS website
* That schedule can be changed by professors.
D) Submission Date of ‘Result of Master’s Thesis Proposal Examination’
Advisory professor must submit the screening results to the Administration Office by July 11, 2022.
3. Eligibility for Thesis Committee Members
A) Chairman: SNU professor, associate professor, and assistant professor
B) Vice chairman: SNU professor, associate professor, assistant professor, and non-SNU professional with a Ph.D.
C) Thesis advisor: SNU GSIS professor, associate professor, assistant professor
* The committee members should be chosen through consultation with the advisory professor and the student needs to be approved by all prospective committee members.
4. Others
A) Detailed schedule and method (Online or Offline) will be announced on the Notice board of GSIS
website.
B) (in case Offline) Students should be prepared with handouts on the day of the presentation.
Presentation with a PowerPoint is recommended.
C) The presentation should take approximately 15 minutes; students must conduct their thesis based on the review given by the committee members.
2022학년도 1학기 석사학위 논문계획서(Proposal) 심사
1. 논문계획서 제출 자격
연구생 또는 재학생으로 등록한 자
논문제출자격시험의 결과에 상관없이 신청이 가능함
2학기 또는 3학기에 논문계획서 심사신청을 권장함
(논문계획서(Proposal) 심사와 논문종결심사(Defense)는 한 학기에 동시에 신청할 수 없음)
2. 논문계획서 심사 일정
가. 신청서 접수
1) 제출서류 : 논문심사위원 신청서, 심사위원(3인)의 승인 이메일
2) 제출기간 : 2022.4.6.(수) ∼ 4.17.(일)까지 (시간엄수)
3) 제출장소 : 이메일 제출(nhjun@snu.ac.kr)
나. 심사용 논문계획서 제출
1) 제출기간 : 2022.5.16.(월) ~ 5.17.(화) 오후 5시까지 (시간엄수)
2) 제출장소 : 이메일 제출(nhjun@snu.ac.kr)
* 신청자는 심사용 논문계획서(자유양식)를 반드시 정해진 기간에 이메일로 제출해야 함.
단, 심사위원이 교외 인사인 경우 위 정해진 기간에 해당 심사위원에게 이메일로 직접 제출함
다. 논문계획서 심사 기간 : 2022.5.27.(금) ~ 6.10.(금) (변동가능)

라. 논문계획서 심사 결과표 제출일 : 지도교수가 2022년 7월 11일(월)까지 제출
3. 논문심사위원의 자격
가. 위원장 : 본교 교수, 부교수, 조교수
나. 부위원장
- 본교 교수, 부교수, 조교수
- 박사학위를 소지한 교외의 전문가
다. 위원(지도교수) : 본교 국제대학원 국제학과 교수, 부교수, 조교수
* 심사위원선정 : 논문지도교수와 상의하여 선정하며 해당 심사위원의 동의를 얻어야 함
4. 기타
가. 발표 당일 Handout을 준비하여야 하며, 발표방법으로는 파워포인트에 의한 발표를 권장함
나. 발표시간은 15분 정도이며, 발표 후 심사위원들의 지도를 바탕으로 논문을 심화시켜야 함
