A special lecture entitled “EU and Northeast Asia: three partners, two headaches, one strategy” was held at GL Room, GSIS, on Wednesday, May 30, 2018.

Supported by EU Centre, GSIS, the lecture was presented by Prof. Dr. Ramon Pacheco Pardo, a KF-VUB Korea Chair, Institute for European Studies, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, as well as a Senior Lecturer in International Relations at King’s College London.

The lecture enlightened the students on the relationship between Northeast Asia and EU, specifically in the topic related to strategies that the EU have for engaging with the Asian region, looking towards the direct threats that are posed by China and North Korea on EU as well as its partners in the area.

The KF-VUB Korea Chair (www.korea-chair.eu) at the Institute for European Studies (www.ies.be) is the primary contact point in Europe on policy issues related to Korea and the Korean Peninsula.

A joint initiative between the Korea Foundation and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), the Chair plays a strategic role in furthering Europe-Korea relations. It builds links between Europe and Korea through a number of activities and partnerships, and contributes actively to increasing the possibilities for their future cooperation on bilateral, regional, and global levels.
