On September 4th, Congressman Eni F.H. Faleomavaega of the United States,
serving as Senior Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and
Chairman of the Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific, visited GSIS and
gave a lecture titled "An Overview of the Political and Economic Climate
of the Asia Pacific."

In his lecture, he discussed the extent to which the Asia-Pacific American
community has contributed to what the United States is today. He did not
forget to mention, however, that it is only recently Eurocentric Washington
D.C. got deeply interested in issues concerning Asia, due to its unpleasant
