In recent years, the landscape of the global order has been marked by profound and interlinked disruptions. From shifting power dynamics and deepening geopolitical tensions to mounting environmental pressures and contested legal norms, the assumptions that once underpinned international cooperation are under strain. These contested times call for a rethinking of how global governance can deliver justice and sustainability, making it more urgent than ever to envision new pathways for common interests.

 

Panel 1 "The Prospect of Global Development Governance in the Trumpian Era: Securitizing Development?" explores how intensifying geopolitical rivalry, resurgent nationalism, and decline of multilateral order are recasting global development governance, raising questions about the securitization of development and the future of international development cooperation.

 

Panel 2 "The Law of the Sea and the Future of Global Environmental Sustainability" will examine how recent developments in the law of the sea intersect with questions of environmental governance and sustainability, highlighting the evolving role of international legal frameworks in addressing global challenges.
