Dear all,
Germany's and Korea's converging priorities for global sustainable development offer considerable opportunities and potential for expanding cooperation between the two countries. Whilst located at opposite ends of the Eurasian continent, both countries face the same difficult global geopolitical and economic environment, the consequences of climate change, as well as a worrying decline in human development worldwide.
Both Korea and Germany are global players in the field of development and climate finance and to this end manage ever-expanding geographic and thematic cooperation portfolios. Korea and Germany also face the challenge of improving the effectiveness of these investments, as the scale of global development challenges - and in particular the need for climate finance - far outstrips the growth of available financial resources.
To explore the opportunities for deepening cooperation during the coming years and in light of the upcoming September UN Summit on the 2030 Agenda, we would like to invite you to join us at a hybrid conference at Ewha Womans University on the 14th of June from 15:30-18:30 KST (8:30-11:30hr German time). This conference is jointly organised and hosted by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Korea, the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) and the Graduate School of International Studies of Ewha Womans University.
Please find the draft programme attached to this message.
We would be grateful if you could confirm your availability through the following registration link.
We look forward to meeting and exchanging views and ideas with you during the conference.
With best regards,
Thomas Kalinowski (Ewha Womans University) and Stephan Klingebiel (IDOS)
