GSIS BK21 Special Lecture Series (9)
SNU GSIS BK21 FOUR Program hosts various events inviting prominent figures to deliver distinguished lectures with our Special Lecture Series.
For our ninth session, we have Professor Andrew Kennedy from the Australian National University’s Crawford School of Public Policy, specializing in the foreign relations of China, India, and the United States, who will lecture on the theme: “China's Rise as a Techno-power”.
Please refer to the below abstract and poster for detailed information. Thank you.
*Abstract: China's emergence as a new technological power is one of the most striking developments of the 21st century. From space exploration to 5G networks, China is making a name for itself as a world leader in science and technology. Even so, China’s rise in this regard remains poorly understood and surrounded by controversy. This presentation will begin by illuminating the forces that have driven China’s pursuit of technological leadership to date. It will then explore the growth of China’s collaboration with the outside world in science and technology as well as the recent backlash against China and the drive for “decoupling.” The presentation will then consider how China and the United States compare as high-tech leaders in areas ranging from basic science to Artificial Intelligence. The presentation will conclude by considering a series of key questions for the future.
