이번 강연에서는 서울대학교 생활과학대학 식품영양학과 강윤희 교수님을 모시고, “시스템이 만든 영양 변화: 한국의 경험과 교훈”을 주제로 강연을 진행합니다.

  • 초록: 본 강연은 일제강점기, 해방 이후, 그리고 1970–80년대 경제발전기를 중심으로 주요 역사적 사건과 함께 한국 국민의 영양 상태 변화 과정을 추적한다. 특히 유니세프 영양불량 프레임워크를 적용하여, 해당 시기 식량안보 강화, 생활환경 개선, 보건 확산, 사회행동 변화, 그리고 국가 정책의 통합적 실행이 한국의 영양전환을 어떻게 이끌었는지를 분석한다. 더불어 한국의 영양전환 경험을 실증적으로 연구할 수 있는 방안을 탐색하고, 이를 글로벌 맥락에서 공유하기 위한 전략적 시사점을 도출하고자 한다.

The SNU GSIS BK21 FOUR Program hosts a series of academic events, inviting distinguished speakers to deliver lectures as part of our Special Lecture Series.
For our 44th session, we are pleased to invite Professor Yunhee Kang from the Department of Food and Nutrition, College of Human Ecology at Seoul National University.
She will deliver a lecture on the theme of “How Systems Shaped Nutrition: Lessons from Korea’s Transformation.”

  • Abstract: This lecture traces the transformation of nutritional conditions in Korea across key historical periods, including the Japanese colonial era, post-liberation, and the economic development period of the 1970s–80s. Applying the UNICEF malnutrition framework, it examines how improvements in food security, living conditions, public health expansion, social behavior, and integrated state policies collectively drove Korea’s nutrition transition. The lecture further explores methodological approaches to empirically study this transformation and identifies strategic entry points for sharing Korea’s experience in a global context.

SNU GSIS BK21 FOUR Program hosts various events, inviting prominent figures to deliver distinguished lectures with our Special Lecture Series.
For our 43rd session, we are inviting Professor Kiyoung Lee. He will talk on the theme of "Lessons from Clean Air for Sustainable ASEAN (CASA)". Please refer to the information below for more details: - Date & Time: April 15 (Wed.) 13:00 pm - 14:30 pm (KST) - Venue: International Conference Room (4F) - Language: English - Abstract:  The Clean Air for Sustainable ASEAN (CASA) project serves as a pivotal initiative aimed at addressing air pollution across ASEAN Member States (AMS) through a comprehensive framework of scientific, technical, and political measures. Funded by the ASEAN Korea Cooperation Fund with a budget of US$11 million from January 2023 to December 2026, CASA focuses on enhancing air quality management and mitigating the adverse health impacts associated with air pollution. The key lessons learned from the CASA project is the importance of regional collaboration. By fostering partnerships among AMS, CASA promotes the sharing of best practices and resources, which is essential for effective air quality monitoring and management. Source analysis can provide critical information of sources of air pollution in AMS. The establishment of air quality monitoring stations (AQMS) across the region has significantly improved data collection and analysis, enabling countries to better understand pollution sources and health impacts. CASA emphasizes raising public understanding of air pollution issues, which is vital for fostering community preparedness and response.  Furthermore, the development of regional policies and guidelines is essential in standardizing approaches to air quality management. The project has facilitated high-level discussions and policy recommendations that align with the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Blueprint, ensuring that air quality remains a priority in regional development agendas. In conclusion, the CASA project highlights the significance of collaborative efforts, public engagement, and policy development in combating air pollution. These lessons learned not only contribute to the success of CASA but also provide a valuable framework for future initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable environmental practices in the ASEAN region.
This session is open to all SNU GSIS students, but attendance is mandatory for BK fellows. (Attendance and meaningful participation will be highly recognized for next semester's selection.)

저희 센터는 서울대학교 국제대학원 국제학연구소 산하기관으로 국제이주, 돌봄, 젠더평등 등의 주제를 중심으로 현장과 맞닿아있는 학술 연구와 학계·시민사회·정부 간의 다양한 협력 활동을 통해 포용적이고 지속가능한 사회 발전에 기여하는 것을 목표로 하고 있습니다.
 
저희 센터는 2025년 하반기에 이어, 올 봄에도 <아시아의 돌봄, 국경을 넘어 경험을 나누다> 세미나 시리즈를 이어갑니다. 이번 시리즈는 아시아 각국이 직면한 돌봄의 시급한 현안을 두루 살피며, 학계·정책 현장·시민사회의 다양한 시각을 연결하는 대화의 장을 마련합니다. 정책 혁신, 지역사회 차원의 해법, 국가 간 협력을 통해 각국이 돌봄 과제를 어떻게 풀어가고 있는지 논의하며, 이를 토대로 아시아 차원의 포용적이고 지속 가능한 돌봄 모델을 함께 모색하고자 합니다.
