SNU-GSIS Africa Day

A variety of academic and cultural events were held during the first SNU-GSIS Africa Day on September 13, Friday. Throughout the day, presentations by the Nigerian Ambassador, Prof. Taekyoon Kim, the Directors of African Region from KOICA and Hyundai Corporation and more, were followed by an African Cultural Performance, exhibitions of African Art and Movies, and an essay competition. All the money received through the lunch on Africa Day was donated to the World Food Programme (WFP).

2013 Fall Commencement Ceremony

The 2013 Fall commencement ceremony was held on August 29, 2013 at Sochon International Hall. At the ceremony, Dean Hwy-Chang Moon congratulated the students on their scholastic achievements at GSIS. He also expressed sincere gratitude to the donors for their generous contribution to the academic development and student aid at GSIS. In this regard, a token of appreciation was presented to Mr. Chul Ho Kim, a former Visiting Professor at GSIS. The commencement ceremony was culminated with the Valedictorian speech by Mr. Jin Wook Nam ('11 International Commerce).

On 25th July, GSIS held an international forum with the title of "Constructing Trust Building and Economic Cooperation in Northeast Asia" at the International Conference Room. It was consisted of two sessions, each of which dealt with 'FTA and Economic Cooperation in Northeast Asia' and 'Trust Building Process in Northeast Asia.' Professors from GSIS and many other prominent scholars from abroad participated in the forum.

 Naeun Choi ('11 Int'l Cooperation) and SeungChul Lee ('11 Int'l Cooperation) won the 2nd place in the 10th KOICA Undergraduate and Graduate Thesis Competition on International Developmeent Cooperation. Their thesis, entitled "The Rold of Donor Agencies for Catalyzing Public Private Partership (PPP): A Study of Agenda-Setting and Governance," will be published and they will be provided with an opportunity to go on a field trip to one of the recipient countries funded by KOICA.
