As part of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence program, the EU Centre hosted a visit to the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Korea with students from Professor Park Sunhee’s course “Comparative Studies in Regional Integration: The Case of Europe and Asia”. The head of political section, Dr. Joëlle Hivonnet welcomed students with a welcoming note, followed by a brief presentation on “EU: values, principles, features, main institutions, EEAS and EU-ROK relations”. After the presentation, students raised various questions regarding cross-cutting issues relevant to the EU such as regional integration in Europe and Asia, upcoming elections in EU, rising nationalism and populism, latest outcome of ASEM meeting and ROK-EU Summit about denuclearization of North Korea, fake news, etc. Afterwards, students participated in filming a short video to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, of which the video will be featured by the Delegation. Overall, the visit was a great opportunity for students to meet and talk with EU specialists, as well as form a better understanding of how the Delegation makes an outreach here in Seoul.
