Mr. Kato Koichi, former secretary general of the Japan's prominent
Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and member of Japan's House
of Representatives, visited GSIS to deliver a lecture entitled
"Political Changes in Japan and Asian Diplomacy" on October 8th.

In his lecture, Kato stressed that Japanese nationalism has been
changing in constructive ways. He also stressed that Yasuo Fukuda,
newly elected prime minister of Japan, who was appointed to his
position under the changed faction structure of the LDP,
will try to improve Japan's diplomatic relations with its neighboring countries.
